11 Jun London Technology Week set to shine spotlight on capital’s tech success
Earlier this month I spoke at the media launch of London Technology Week looking across the capital from the top floor of City Hall. Having first heard about plans for the inaugural London Technology Week in the first steering group meeting last autumn, the subsequent widespread enthusiasm and support from London’s technology community that has led to more than 200 events across the city is simply overwhelming.
Overwhelming, but not surprising. Kit Malthouse, deputy mayor of London for business and enterprise, spoke about the growth of London’s technology community in terms of job creation and revenue. London’s technology sector has truly taken off in the past few years and it is only right that the city host a global technology event to reflect its global technology industry and aspirations.
As a Founding Partner, Tech London Advocates is at the heart of London Technology Week. As one of Boris Johnson’s London Tech Ambassadors, I have been advising on ‘LTW’ and am thrilled by the quality of events on offer. It is great to see so many members of Tech London Advocates are organising events throughout the week. My hope is that London Technology Week will be an opportunity to showcase the best of London’s technology businesses and startups, but also to come together as a technology community and start tackling the roadblocks that lie in our way.
