About this Event

Intertech, Thoughtworks, Tech London Advocates and Sainsbury’s Tech invite you to our ‘Making Inclusive Tech Workplaces: LGBTQ+ Allyship Across The Generations’ event. The evening will feature a panel of speakers from different backgrounds who’ll share honest and open accounts of their personal journeys.

Christine Burns will be our keynote speaker on the night. You don’t want to miss this event!

Christine Burns

Although originally an IT specialist for almost thirty years, Christine Burns MBE has campaigned for a quarter of a century for the civil rights of transgender people, and has been involved with the trans community for more than forty years. Following a spell as a Principal Consultant and founder member of the Works Council for Cap Gemini in the UK, she has worked as an equalities consultant, helped to put together new employment legislation and the Gender Recognition Act, and wrote the first ever official guidance about trans people for the Department of Health. Christine has also written extensively about transgender history in Britain. Her two volume work ‘Pressing Matters’ (2013,14) was an insider account of the lobby campaign which led to the passage of the Gender Recognition Act in 2004. Her latest book, ‘Trans Britain’ (Unbound, 2018), an edited anthology of eye-witness accounts, describes the historical journey of trans people over more than a century.

Following the talks, there will be a Q&A session as well as an opportunity to network with the panel and other attendees of the event.
