Tech For disAbility

About Tech for disAbility

Why do we exist:

  • So innovation can benefit the needs of disabled and neurodivergent people.

Who is the group relevant for?

  • Disabled and neurodivergent people as tech producers and consumers.
  • Tech startups and the wider software industry.
  • Those who can provide resources and support the cause.

We aim to connect the disabled and tech communities to facilitate the exchange and sharing of information to promote knowledge, awareness, and opportunities so technology can benefit everyone. We welcome people of all abilities and many of our audience are international. Currently we have a focus on neurodiversity as a key aspect of our leads and our audience.

We want to be at the hub of content flowing through this network. One way to do so is through our meetings, so please attend to add to the conversation and ideas. Another way is to contribute relevant news and information to us so we can distribute it through our platform.

We run a bi-monthly series of Inclusive Conversations to drive information sharing that can progress through our network. We plan to have at least one speaker as a conversation starter. They might be a disability consultant, advocate, researcher, startup entrepreneur or tech business employee.

PLANNED ACTIVITY

What 3 priorities do we want to focus on in the next 12 months?
  • Building an understanding of disabled peoples’ needs to the innovation ecosystem.
  • Publishing content to promote market and user research, inclusive design and relevant emerging technologies.
  • Bringing the disabled and tech communities together for exchanges of ideas and understanding in events.
